Local Weekday Birdwalk at Anderson River Park

This walk through beautiful Anderson River Park will be lead by Brooke McDonald, 604-2945. Meet at the Anderson River Park Amphitheater parking lot at 8am. The river access, ponds, marsh, riparian and oak woodlands are all accessible by an extensive trail system. All varieties of avian life are found here from waterfowl and Bald Eagles to California Scrub-Jays and warblers.

This gem of riparian habitat has many groomed trails and will be led by Ken Bachman who lives nearby and has a wealth of experience in the Park. We will assemble at the amphitheater in he Park for this half day outing.

Anderson River Park Bird Walk

This bird walk is part of the 15th Annual Snow Goose Festival. Snow Goose Festival registrants meet at Chico Creek Nature Center at 7:00 am. More vigorous hiking, some elevation gain/loss “Anderson River Park never disappoints!” Anderson River Park encompasses 440 acres of mixed habitat, including freshwater marsh, major river, riparian woodland, and oak savanna. It also hosts 125+ bird species. Specialty birds include many seasonal species and residents such as Wood Ducks, Nuttall’s Woodpecker, Red-breasted Sapsucker Yellow-billed Magpies, and California Thrashers. If time allows, we will try to include Kutras Lake/Turtle Bay. Bring your binoculars, spotting scope, water, and lunch.
